Dressed to Impress for Yoga Class

Yoga is all the rage, and now you’ve finally found a studio where you’re comfortable with the routine, the environment, the instructor, even the other students. Looking in your closet, though, you find that the closest thing you have to comfortable exercise clothing is sweat pants, or a sports jersey, or running shorts. You’ll overheat and the sweats and the shorts might reveal a bit too much in those crazy yoga positions, so what now?

Fortunately, you don’t have to search very long to find a solution in the shape of unique yoga clothing. Clothes made especially for the wide range of motion and sometimes high amount of stress and sweat involved in a yoga routine can be invaluable to helping you get through a session without mistake or embarrassment.

The most important piece of yoga clothing are yoga leggings. For women these often come in the form of yoga capri pants for women; comfortable, cool, and flexible, capris are a great choice for yogic exercise. Yoga capris can also be worn outside of the studio: at the grocery store, on the bus, on the street, they don’t look out of place and will leave you feeling just as comfortable as you do when you’re doing yoga.

Of course, leggings aren’t all there are. You can pick up yoga tees to wear especially for yoga, as you would have tees that you reserve for the gym or for running. Yoga tees are just like yoga capris, though: a great range of motion combined with a look that will not make you stick out when you’re on the go to or from the studio, or even just on a lazy Sunday.

Yoga hoodies are something that is a bit more specialized. Sometimes, you want to be warmer when performing yoga; there is even a type of yoga called ‘hot yoga’ that involves going through the routine in a room turned up to over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Using this heat, the body releases more ‘toxins’ through sweating and becomes more limber thanks to the warmth in the muscles.

Yoga hoodies are a great way to simulate this effect, though you should check with your instructor as well as your doctor to see if hot yoga is right for you. Yoga hoodies are also nice to wear when you’re stepping out of the yoga studio into a brisk day; they don’t look out of place, and they’ll keep you toasty as you come down from that yoga high. What’s not to love?
